Martens M, Rosales C, Morilla A. Evaluation of the use of a subunit classical swine fever marker vaccine under field conditions in Mexico. J Swine Health Prod. 2003;11(2):81-85. Figure 1: Map of Mexico (July 1998), showing the geographical areas free of classical swine fever (CSF) where vaccine was prohibited (Free); the area where CSF was endemic at a low level and vaccination was enforced (Control); and the area where CSF did not occur between 1996 and 1998, due to intensive use of an attenuated vaccine between 1993 and 1996 (Eradication). Outbreaks of CSF occurred in the state of Jalisco in 1998.

A decade of research into classical swine fever marker vaccine CP7_E2alf (Suvaxyn® CSF Marker): a review of vaccine properties
Due to its impact on animal health and pig industry, classical swine fever (CSF) is still one of the most important viral diseases of pigs. To control the disease, safe and highly efficacious live attenuated vaccines exist for decades. However, until recently, the available live vaccines did not allow a serological marker concept that is essentially important to circumvent long-term trade restr...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the general characteristics of commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to detect antibody against classical swine fever (CSF), as well as to assess their potential use as accompanying marker tests able to differentiate infected from vaccinated animals (DIVA). The Chekit* CSF-Sero and the HerdChek* CSFV Ab, both of which detect ant...
متن کاملPigs immunized with a novel E2 subunit vaccine are protected from subgenotype heterologous classical swine fever virus challenge
BACKGROUND Classical swine fever (CSF) or hog cholera is a highly contagious swine viral disease. CSF endemic countries have to use routine vaccination with modified live virus (MLV) vaccines to prevent and control CSF. However, it is impossible to serologically differentiate MLV vaccinated pigs from those infected with CSF virus (CSFV). The aim of this study is to develop a one-dose E2-subunit...
متن کاملApproaches to define the viral genetic basis of classical swine fever virus virulence.
Classical swine fever (CSF), a highly contagious disease of pigs caused by the classical swine fever virus (CSFV), can lead to important economic losses in the pig industry. Numerous CSFV isolates with various degrees of virulence have been isolated worldwide, ranging from low virulent strains that do not result in any apparent clinical signs to highly virulent strains that cause a severe perac...
متن کاملDevelopment of a live attenuated antigenic marker classical swine fever vaccine.
Until recently strategies for controlling Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV) involve either prophylactic vaccination or non-vaccination with elimination of infected herds depending on the epidemiological situation of the affected geographical area. Marker vaccines allowing distinction between naturally infected from vaccinated swine could complement "stamping out" measures. Here we developed a ...
